Information We Collect and Use

Stroll is designed to turn your steps into earned screen time for the apps or categories you choose.

Step and Activity Data

Android: Stroll uses Health Connect to read your step count and step history when you grant permission. This lets Stroll calculate earned screen time from your walking activity. If Health Connect is connected but does not have step data yet, Stroll may ask for Activity Recognition permission. This lets Stroll count steps from your phone so your earned time can start today.

iOS: Stroll uses Apple Health, through HealthKit, to read your step count when you grant permission. Stroll uses this step data to calculate earned screen time from your walking activity and show your progress.

Stroll does not use step or activity data for advertising. Stroll uses step and activity data only to provide the step-based earned screen time feature, show your progress, maintain your history and streaks, and understand whether the app is working reliably.

Stroll does not read workouts, location, heart rate, sleep, nutrition, or other health records for the step-to-screen-time feature.

App Usage and Screen Time Data

Android: Stroll uses Usage Access to measure time spent in the apps you choose to slow down. This helps Stroll subtract used time from your earned screen time. Stroll does not use Usage Access to read messages, typed text, passwords, payment details, or screen content.

On Android, Stroll may access the list of installed or launchable apps so you can choose which apps to slow down. Stroll may store the package names of the apps you choose on your device so blocking can work. Stroll does not sell or use your installed app list for advertising.

iOS: Stroll uses Apple Screen Time-related APIs, including FamilyControls and ManagedSettings, to let you choose apps or categories and apply blocking rules. Because of Apple’s privacy protections, Stroll does not receive a full stream of your app usage on iOS and does not see which individual apps are inside a selected category. iOS may provide private app or category tokens that let Stroll apply your chosen blocking settings without exposing unnecessary details.

On iOS, Stroll uses an earned-time wallet and unlock-session model. When you spend earned time or use a one-time pass, Stroll may temporarily pause blocking for the selected app or category and record the session locally so your earned time can be updated.

Accessibility Service Data

Stroll uses Accessibility to detect when a chosen app or supported browser website opens, then show the pause screen after earned time runs out. The Accessibility Service may receive technical foreground app information, such as package name and app/window change events, so Stroll can decide whether a blocker should appear.

Stroll may check the current website address in supported browsers only to block websites for apps you choose. Website addresses are processed locally on your device, are not stored, and are not sent to us.

Stroll does not use Accessibility Service to read your screen content, messages, passwords, payment details, or anything you type. This permission is used only for app and website blocking. Stroll does not use Android Accessibility Service on iOS.

Notifications

If you allow notifications, Stroll may send local reminders and progress notifications, such as walk reminders, goal progress, onboarding reminders, or weekly progress summaries. On Android, notification content may be generated from local app data such as your step goal, today’s step progress, or weekly step summary. On iOS, notifications are used for optional reminders related to walking and app usage goals. You can turn notifications off from your device settings.

Widgets

On Android, Stroll may provide home screen widgets. Widgets may use local app data, such as step progress, earned screen time, streaks, or daily progress, to show updates on your home screen.

Local App Data

Stroll may store settings and summaries on your device, such as:

  • Daily walking target
  • Steps per minute earn rate
  • Chosen apps or categories
  • Chosen Android app package names
  • Earned screen time
  • Earned time used
  • Unlock sessions
  • One-time pass settings and usage
  • Step summaries and streak history
  • Permission setup status
  • App or category tokens used for blocking on supported platforms
  • Notification prompt status
  • App language preference
  • Local widget state
  • Local onboarding and setup state

This information helps Stroll run the walk-to-scroll loop, apply your blocking choices, and show your progress.

Usage, Analytics, and Diagnostic Data

Stroll may collect limited Usage Data, analytics data, and diagnostic data to understand app performance, fix crashes, improve reliability, and improve the user experience. This may include:

  • Device type
  • Device manufacturer and model
  • Operating system version
  • App version and build version
  • Crash logs and stack traces
  • Performance data
  • App screens viewed
  • App interactions and feature events
  • Permission setup events and permission outcomes
  • Onboarding progress
  • Chosen app count or selected category count
  • Step goal and earn-rate settings
  • Streak count
  • Earned screen time, used screen time, and remaining screen time
  • Limited step-related analytics, such as whether step history was found, records found, steps counted, or total steps found
  • Blocker events, such as blocker shown, blocker closed, and blocker CTA tapped
  • One-time pass and unlock-session events
  • Rating prompt events
  • Diagnostic events
  • Anonymous installation or device identifiers used by analytics or crash reporting tools

Stroll may use Service Providers, including Firebase Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics, and Firebase Remote Config, to help collect and process analytics, crash, diagnostic, and configuration information.

Firebase Analytics helps us understand product flows such as onboarding, permission setup, app selection, unlock sessions, one-time passes, screen views, blocker events, and rating prompts.

Firebase Crashlytics helps us find and fix crashes and errors. Crash reports may include device model, operating system version, app version, stack traces, error area, and limited technical metadata.

Firebase Remote Config may be used to fetch app configuration, feature flags, or in-app message settings, such as whether a small informational snippet is shown. Remote Config helps us improve the app without requiring every small configuration change to ship as a full app update.

Stroll does not use analytics events to send your messages, passwords, payment details, screen content, or the names of private iOS Screen Time category contents.
